Get to Know Black Media

Details

Past Event

Newspapers made entirely for and by African-Americans, such as the Chicago Defender and Pittsburgh Courier, were founded on frustration with the press ignoring news happening in black communities, forcing people to take matters into their own hands. If you're looking to learn more about black-owned media, you might be interested in the symposium Get to Know Black Media. It'll offer speakers and panels and give people a chance to network as they learn more about this subset of the media landscape. 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, 1300 Biscayne Blvd., Miami; arshtcenter.org. Admission is free with registration.
